I'm Zara, a reiki and massage practitioner based in Manchester, UK.

Reiki by Zara is a calm, nurturing space away from the pace of daily life.

This is a place for you to feel held and supported, where your comfort and needs in the present moment are always at the centre.

About reiki

Reiki is a Japanese energy healing practice which focuses on the whole self - mind, body and spirit. It is a gentle and sacred practice which I am grateful and honoured to be sharing with others. As a practitioner, I work with your energy to encourage balance, ease tension and bring awareness to areas that may need care and attention. During the treatment, I light touch or hover my hands over your body to support relaxation and energetic balance. Every experience is unique - you may drift into sleep or remain awake, you may notice emotions or sensations or a deep sense of calm.

The experience

I offer my sessions out of a lovely treatment room in Sale at Thrive Wellbeing Hub and in Withington at The Self Studio. The sessions are tailored to your needs. I offer reiki standalone treatments, massage standalone treatments or reiki and massage together, as I believe they truly compliment each other.

Every part of the treatment is there to help you receive, soften and rest. I see reiki and massage as a conversation with the mind, body and spirit. If someone leaves feeling even a little more settled, a little more connected to themselves and they feel cared for, then that means everything to me.

The benefits of reiki and massage

Reiki and massage both help to support overall wellbeing and health. Reiki has many benefits and clients come for all sorts of reasons such as to ease stress and fatigue, gain clarity, deepen self-connection or to rest and reset. Massage helps to reduce stress, ease muscle tension and improve relaxation.

What a lovely day at @cheshirewellnessfestival 🦢🌿💆

There is something really special about offering reiki surrounded by nature alongside so many wonderful people sharing their workshops, practices and creations. My day started with my gazebo losing its battle with the wind😂 Thankfully, Paul from Aligned Harmony who was selling flower essences kindly offered me space under his gazebo. I'm so grateful for his kindness which was a lovely reminder of the warmth & community spirit at the festival. Thank you to everyone who came for a session or stopped for a chat. Every appointment was filled and it was a privilege to meet so many of you and share the supportive and balancing nature of reiki. It was also really lovely to see so many people slowing down, taking time for themselves and allowing themselves to receive from the day.

I left feeling grateful, inspired & with a very full heart. Thank you to the organisers of the festival and to everyone who made today so special💜

There can be so much noise around self care and all the things we’re told we “should” be doing that we can lose connection with the simple things in day to day that support us such as the earth beneath our feet, gentle movement, connection & enjoying that first sip of tea in the morning☕ Reiki shows what we already know within which is that connection with ourselves, with each other and the earth lives in the simplest moments. It’s about creating space to show up for ourselves, however we are. And some days this is easier than others isn't it🤗 It's often those small pockets of presence which nourish and anchor us most. For me this morning it looked like a stroll through the park, listening to the rain with a cup of lemon & ginger tea in my hand. I admired the flowers and the bees and took some time to connect to my body & any emotions present. No to do list, just being with myself and the earth.

Some mornings don't look like this at all and I'm running about trying to find where I put my keys AGAIN😂 but it's a reminder that, that's our reality and we're human! And through all the noise, what really matters is learning what works for us and finding ways to support and come back to ourselves🌱💜

Pride is a celebration of who we are, the communities that support & uplift us and all the ongoing work towards a more inclusive society. It also reflects something hugely important to me in my reiki practice which is creating an inclusive place where clients who walk through the door feel accepted and valued for exactly who they are💜 This month is a reminder of the importance of visibility, connection & the continued fight for equality!!

Pride is important for lots of reasons including:

- To raise awareness & challenge homophobic and transphobic legislation & discrimination
- To celebrate gender diversity, diversity as a whole & sexual orientation
- To empower & connect LGBTQIA+ individuals
- To create spaces where people can embrace and express their authentic selves
- It provides opportunities to meet like minded people, build supportive networks & strengthen communities
- It celebrates and honours people that came before us and fought for our rights today
- It offers hope and support to those who may be questioning their identity
- It shows people they are not alone & wherever they are in their journey, Pride is for them
- To honour those who are still fighting for rights and safety

I married my best friend on Saturday!! It was the most joyful, beautiful and fun day filled with everyone we love and cherish❤️

I’ll be offering 1-1 reiki sessions at Cheshire Wellness Festival (@cheshirewellnessfestival) on the 28th of June🌱☀️ This will be my first time at this wonderful festival and I'm really looking forward to being a part of it!

My sessions will be held in a cosy space in nature for you to pause and gently reconnect. Each session is tailored to you. It's a chance to rest and receive what you need in that moment.

Whether you're curious about reiki, feeling stressed/ overwhelmed or simply craving a quiet space to land, you're so welcome💜

Reiki is an energy healing practice which originates from Japan in the 1920s. It can be offered with light touch or hands off healing. I work intuitively to support balance and overall wellbeing.

Yesterday marked the beginning of my Reiki Masters training⭕

After journeying with Reiki since 2021, developing my practice through self reiki, with the earth, with animals and with my wonderful clients, I felt that this was the year!

It was a beautiful morning guided by my reiki teacher, @lalki_therapy. We shared reflections on what awakening means to each of us and explored the energies of reiki - earth, compassion, oneness and ashin ritsumei. We also learned and practised Tan Tien meditations which felt deeply powerful and centring. I'm so looking forward to the rest of the training and continuing to deepen my connection with reiki.

Afterwards, I went for a walk in the Peak District, spending time in nature and admiring the fast flow of the river. Touching the earth and simply being present with the hills and trees felt like the perfect way to integrate the morning’s teachings.

Plants don't rush to grow. Buds don't rush to bloom. Anchored firmly by the roots in the soil, they trust in the quiet unfolding of their seasons. Reaching out into the sun when they are ready. Nature understands rest just as much as it honours growth. Shaped through the storms and seasons, the plant embraces itself in all its forms. With care and intention, we witness plants carrying out the art of rebuilding. Time and time again. An innate knowing lives in their presence...flowers release and the earth will receive them and yet what returns, stands firmer and wiser in its truth🌱

Some things that I'd tell a friend who's receiving reiki for the first time...

It's completely normal to feel nervous or apprehensive. Make sure to go to someone who is recommended and you feel you can trust. Have a chat with them beforehand if you can.

You are not silly for asking questions, that's what the practitioner is there for. No question is too big!

It's not only about the time during the session, it's also about how you support yourself before and after. For example, staying hydrated & finding some time to rest after the session will help you process the reiki (the cosier the space the better - think hot water bottles & decaf tea!) .

The sessions might not always feel relaxing, for e.g your mind might be busy. This doesn't mean the reiki isn't working. It will always hold you in love & compassion.

Do let your practitioner know if you'd like to pause or stop the session at any point.

The reiki practitioner will not judge you for experiencing an emotional release or snoring or moving - they've been in your shoes too. They're there to support you!

Grounding is a big part of reiki healing. Grounding helps us come back to the present moment and remember that we are nature itself. It's something we can introduce into our daily lives through small, mindful practices such as - noticing the sensation of our feet on the ground, walking barefoot in nature, lying on the grass, connecting to our senses and mindful breathing!💚🌱🌳
